The solution.

To solve our problems, we need to make our voices heard, really heard, by demanding greater voting power.

There are two key voting powers that can address the problems we just outlined. First is the power to call for referendums (votes) on laws and actions initiated by the government that we don’t feel are supported by the public.  Second is the power to put forward initiatives (votes) on laws proposed directly by the people.

Here’s a quick example at how greater voting powers would work. Suppose the government passed a law that some people believe is not in the best interests of the public. If enough people felt that way, they could demand a vote on that law—that is, a referendum. The consequences of referendums are profound.  When special interest promoted laws were voted down, they would find all their maneuvers and money were completely wasted. They would quickly learn their lessons and cut back on future efforts.

With our greater voting powers, special interests would find themselves having to pull back—and a new day would dawn in America. Without having to cater to special interests, elected officials would find themselves able to turn their attention towards doing the right things for the country as a whole. Trust in government would start to return. Our divisions would start to ease. We would be back on track.

We have to make access to referendums and initiatives happen. There is no other choice.
